Segments Presented by Lyle Harvey
INTRODUCTION
OF HISTORY INFORMATION
(Read at the Page Methodist Church on Feb. 10, 2008)
I have visited with
Costa and received his permission to present segments of Page History
at each Sunday Service of the Page Methodist Church that I can attend.
I will present these segments beginning next Sunday until the 125th
celebration to be held in Page, Nebraska the weekend of July 26th and
27th 2008.
These
segments will be around two minutes in length and will be read or presented
at the beginning of the church service. They will cover certain aspects
of our Page History that will show the early settlers working together,
helping each other and coming together for religious and community events.
I
will do my best to make them interesting, factual and relevant to the
Page History. I do not claim to be the Page Historian, nor do I claim
to know any more than anyone else who has grown up and lived in and
around Page, Nebraska. Rather, I have met many of the early settlers
personally and they have greatly impressed me. My father and mother
have inspired me to learn about local history. I was also blessed to
have a history teacher by the name of Joe Coble who taught us how to
appreciate local history in 1963 to 1965. From all of that, I have been
inspired to learn.
It
is my hope that these segments will create some interest in the Q125
celebration this summer and also cause all of you to look into your
own family history and try to record it or teach it to your children
and grandchildren.
